In another wonderful invasion of American privacy, YouTube has recently been ordered to hand over all of its viewer data to Viacom. “Why,” you ask, “why does this cute and cuddly conglomerate have to know that I just really like watching playthroughs of old Zelda games for NES? Comcast, like many internet service providers, has been accused by consumer groups and press sources of interfering with customers’ connections in order to block peer-to-peer traffic and disconnect BitTorrent seeds. Back in the good ol’ days, college students would receive “pre-litigation letters” from the RIAA demanding $3,000 as an out-of-court settlement. Students would then either pay the fine or challenge the accusation in court.
